Implementation of BIM Technology in Design Process

In design process, IWA Consalt fully relays on implementation of BIM (Building Information Modeling) technology. Implementation of BIM technology in development of complex 3D buildings and plant models enables multiply advantages, comparing to standard approach in design, such as:

  • High accuracy: in spatial parameters of plants and installations, in pipes and other installation crossings and clashes, in positions of pipe supports and equipment, in positions of wall openings, etc.
  • High accuracy in specifications of pipe materials, fittings and other equipment, regarding installation dimensions and connection details,
  • High accuracy in building structural elements, amounts of concrete and steel rebars, concrete casting positions, sheet plans, etc.
  • Integration of building model with digital terrain model and precise determination of excavation and backfill works
On following pictures and animation, some elements of the model for GAC building – Project of Water Treatment Plant “Strand” – City of Novi Sad (capacity of 1,500 l/s), are presented.

LASER SCAN AND BIM INTEGRATION

As a company we provide services for the development of “as built” BIM models of plants, buildings and other facilities. On the basis of point cloud data obtained by high resolution laser scanning, we are capable to produce BIM models in high accuracy, for the existing state of facility. Thus verified “as built” BIM model represents a good basis for further development of rehabilitation or extension projects, for the existing plants and facilities.
